RICHMOND HILL, Ont. — York Region homicide investigators are probing a fatal shooting that rocked a local neighbourhood Friday evening.
At approximately 6:46 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Parker Avenue and Poplar Drive.

A male victim was found lying in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds; despite attempts at life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The following day, the Office of the Chief Coroner identified the victim as Issam Saad, a 47-year-old resident of Richmond Hill.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.
In a related development, shortly after the shooting, police say they responded to a vehicle fire in the area of King Road and Dufferin Street. The vehicle, a Honda Pilot, is being treated as potentially connected to the homicide.
York Regional Police are seeking at least two suspects, but no physical descriptions have been released.

Mayor David West acknowledged the unsettling nature of the incident, noting that Richmond Hill residents “woke up to a disturbing headline” and emphasizing the city’s commitment to public safety.

As the investigation continues, residents in the area remain on edge, awaiting answers about motive and accountability.
