The STRH Local Conversation Group held its October monthly meeting this week, featuring officials from EbikeCan, a Richmond Hill–based e-bike manufacturer and retailer. The discussion focused on the upcoming mobility device bylaws set to be ratified by Richmond Hill Council.

Kasra Abedinejad, Director of Marketing at EbikeCan, expressed the company’s interest in helping local advocates present a strong, informed position to council on issues affecting cyclists and e-bike users.

Participants discussed the current gaps in bike lanes, the absence of bike and e-bike sharing programs, and the challenges of promoting sustainable mobility in the community. EbikeCan officials also shared details of their proposal to launch a bike-sharing service in Richmond Hill, aiming to make cycling more accessible and reduce car dependency.

The group agreed to continue monitoring the bylaw developments and explore ways to collaborate with local businesses and city staff to improve active transportation options across Richmond Hill.
