Emergency crews responded to a residential fire at an abandoned home on Yongehurst Road in Richmond Hill, prompting evacuations and road closures in the area.
Police and fire services were on scene dealing with the blaze, which produced heavy smoke affecting nearby homes. As a precaution, residents in the immediate vicinity were evacuated.
Yongehurst Road has been closed between Kersey Crescent and Yonge Street while emergency crews work to contain the fire and ensure public safety.
Authorities say there are no reported injuries at this time. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area as emergency services continue their response.
