Richmond Hill’s Popularity Contest Is Back — And Everyone’s a Judge

By Staff Report

Nominations are still open for the 2026 edition of CommunityVotes Richmond Hill, an annual campaign that invites residents to recognize their favourite local businesses, services, and organizations.
The online initiative allows community members to nominate everything from restaurants and retailers to healthcare providers and fitness centres. The nomination period runs through April 26, after which the process moves to a public voting phase and eventually the announcement of winners.
According to the platform behind the campaign, CommunityVotes is designed to give residents a voice in highlighting the businesses and services that shape everyday life in their city. Organizers describe it as an independent and impartial system where communities can recognize the businesses and services that make daily life better.
The Richmond Hill campaign spans a wide range of categories, including food and drink, retail, health care, education, and home services—reflecting the breadth of the local economy. Businesses can also be added by users if they are not already listed, making the process more inclusive.
In past years, winners have ranged from small independent shops to well-known service providers, underscoring the program’s role in promoting local businesses while giving residents a say in who stands out in the community.
Residents can submit nominations online and sign up for updates as the campaign moves toward the voting stage and, ultimately, the selection of this year’s top community favourites.
