York Region is carrying out culvert rehabilitation work on Major Mackenzie Drive East, just east of Yonge Street near Cedar Avenue and Lennox Avenue in Richmond Hill.
The project involves repairing an existing culvert beneath Major Mackenzie Drive, part of the drainage infrastructure that allows water to pass underneath the roadway.
Construction is expected to continue into the fall of 2026.
Major Mackenzie Drive will remain open during the work, but drivers should expect lane restrictions in the construction area. The work is being completed in stages, with traffic shifted as crews work on different portions of the culvert.
Access to nearby homes and businesses is expected to be maintained throughout construction.
Work may take place Monday through Saturday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. York Region says the construction schedule could change depending on weather and other conditions.
The project is part of the Regionโs ongoing maintenance of roads, bridges and drainage infrastructure across York Region.
