Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety following a Tuesday evening incident in Richmond Hill.
Two people were injured and two others taken into police custody following a dispute in a parking lot near Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road in Richmond Hill Tuesday evening.
York Regional Police said officers responded to a weapons call in a parking lot on Yonge Street at approximately 6 p.m. on August 11. Police described the incident as a dispute between parties.
Two people were taken to hospital with injuries that police said were not life-threatening. The nature of their injuries has not been released.
Police arrested two suspects in connection with the incident and said no other suspects were outstanding. YRP also told residents there was no ongoing threat to public safety, although a significant police presence was expected in the area while officers continued their investigation.
CTV News Toronto reported the incident Tuesday evening, shortly after the police response. As of early Wednesday morning, police had not publicly provided further details about what led to the dispute or announced charges against those arrested.
The investigation remains ongoing.
