A Sweet Sign of Spring

Maple Syrup Festival Returns March 28

Richmond Hill residents looking for a classic Canadian way to welcome spring can mark their calendars for Mayor David West’s Maple Syrup Festival on Saturday, March 28. Hosted by David West, the annual event brings families together to celebrate maple season and the community spirit that comes with it.

The free, family-friendly festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richmond Green Sports Complex. Visitors can enjoy a range of maple-themed activities including syrup-making demonstrations, tree-tapping displays, maple taffy and tasting tables, and horse-drawn wagon rides.

The festival is also a chance to learn about the tradition behind maple syrup production and connect with local community groups and educators. The event is free to attend, with visitors encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Richmond Hill food bank.

After a long winter, it’s a simple recipe: pancakes, maple syrup, and a few hours outdoors with neighbours — a sweet way to welcome spring in Richmond Hill.
