Fourth Annual Merry Marketplace Launches

RICHMOND HILL — The City of Richmond Hill will launch its fourth annual Merry Marketplace this Saturday at Richmond Green Park, marking the start of a five-week series of outdoor holiday events. The marketplace will run on November 15, 22 and 29, and again on December 6 and 13, operating each Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.

The seasonal program, which the city describes as a community-focused winter event, features rotating weekly themes and a mix of vendors, performances and family-oriented activities. Decorative lighting throughout the venue will remain on until 10 p.m.

According to event organizers, each weekend will include a lineup of artisan vendors selling handmade and locally produced goods. The park will also feature a warming area with a fire pit and entertainment tailored to each week’s theme, ranging from “Reindeer Games” and “Grinchmas” to “Frosty the Snowman,” “Santa’s Village” and “Gingerbread House.”

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be present during all five evenings, with public meet-and-greet opportunities scheduled until 7:30 p.m.

In addition to its festive programming, the event includes a food-drive component. Visitors can donate non-perishable food items at the entrance information booth, with contributions directed to the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank. Each donation provides an entry into a draw for a city-supplied prize pack.

Admission to the Merry Marketplace is free. The event takes place at Richmond Green Park on Elgin Mills Road East. As most activities occur outdoors, attendees are advised to dress for cold weather. Parking is available on site, and pets are permitted in outdoor areas except within food and beverage zones. Vendor participation and programming may vary from week to week.

The Merry Marketplace has become one of Richmond Hill’s recurring winter events, drawing families and residents looking for seasonal activities as the holidays approach.
