York Regional Police say they are searching for a third suspect in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Richmond Hill dating back to June 2025.

According to police, officers were called to a parking lot in the area of Yonge Street and May Avenue on June 21, 2025, after receiving multiple reports of an assault in progress. When officers arrived, they found a male victim with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police allege the incident began as a road rage encounter involving the victim and another male. Investigators say that male left the scene, then returned a short time later with two other males while the victim was at a plaza. Police allege all three men assaulted the victim, and that the victim was stabbed during the incident.

One suspect was arrested at the scene, while two others fled, according to police. After what YRP described as a lengthy investigation, a second suspect was charged on May 31, 2026. Both charged suspects are facing several charges, including attempted murder.

Police say they are now looking for 30-year-old Seyed-Houman Mirmoghtadaei, of no fixed address. He is wanted for attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault. York Regional Police said he is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in.

The two men charged are Hamid-Reza Safi-Poor, 54, of Toronto, and Ali Kia, 59, of Markham. Police say both are charged with attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault and uttering threats. Kia is also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
