Random Attack Near Major Mackenzie
A Richmond Hill woman says she and her boyfriend were the victims of an unprovoked assault near a Blue Viva bus stop on Major Mackenzie Drive earlier this week, leaving her fearful to leave her home.
The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, when the 21-year-old woman and her 22-year-old boyfriend were walking toward the stop. According to her account posted on Reddit, a man ran past them, then suddenly returned and forcefully pushed her boyfriend to the ground.
The suspect is described as about 5’10” tall with a tan complexion, messy black hair, an overgrown beard, and a medical mask. He was wearing neutral-coloured clothing and carrying both a backpack and a suitcase.
The woman said the man appeared ready to fight after dropping his backpack, but fled when she screamed. While no serious injuries were reported, the experience has left her traumatized and anxious to go outside.
York Regional Police have not yet confirmed whether a report has been filed. Residents in the area have expressed concern online, urging anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact authorities.
The victim says she hopes sharing her story will help others stay alert and feel less alone.
