Our Projects: Help Build a Stronger Richmond Hill

Strong Richmond Hill · Our projects

A stronger city starts with us.

Richmond Hill gets stronger when residents help shape it. These four projects turn local knowledge into practical action: finding welcoming places, opening up council decisions, improving streets, and telling the stories of the people building our downtown.

Choose a project. Bring your curiosity. Help move it forward.

Made for People

Everyday places. More ways to get there.

Can you reach a café, shop or community space comfortably without driving? We’re building a Richmond Hill directory that looks at places through the eyes of people who walk, cycle or take transit—making good destinations easier to find and barriers easier to see.

Where you can help
Visit and assess places, take photos, test routes, or help with mapping and the directory.

Council Compass

Richmond Hill’s voting record, made searchable.

Council decisions shape our streets, homes and public finances. We’re building a searchable voting record that connects who voted for what with the motion, its context and the original source—so residents can follow decisions beyond campaign promises.

Where you can help
Read minutes, check recorded votes, add source links, or help build and test the database.

Safe Streets RH

Safer trips start with better street design.

Everyone should be able to make an everyday trip safely. We’re documenting where Richmond Hill’s street design makes walking, cycling and crossing difficult, listening to the people who use those streets, and identifying practical improvements that can start small.

Where you can help
Document a difficult crossing, join a street walk, gather neighbours’ experiences, or help with maps and design ideas.

Downtown Heroes

Small businesses. Big stories.

Behind every independent storefront is someone who took a chance. We’re creating special multimedia profiles of downtown Richmond Hill’s small-business owners: how they started, what goes into a working day, and how they help bring our downtown to life. Each story will combine words, photography and video in a page made to explore.

Where you can help
Find a story, interview an owner, take photos, shoot or edit video, write a profile, or help build the multimedia pages.

You don’t have to do everything. Start with one thing.

A neighbourhood walk, an interview, a few checked records, a photograph—small contributions help these projects grow. You don’t need to be an expert to get involved. Tell us which project interests you and what you’d like to contribute.
