Bike Club Kicks Off with Community Meet & Greet

The Strong Towns Richmond Hill Bike Club held its first official meet and greet session this past weekend, drawing over two dozen cycling enthusiasts from across the city. Held at Richmond Hill Public Library’s Central location, the event brought together riders of all ages and skill levels eager to connect and celebrate active transportation in Richmond Hill.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of two professional bike repair technicians offering free tune-ups and safety checks. Noah, a local mechanic from Motivation Bike Repair, was invited by the Strong Towns team to support the event and help riders get their bikes road-ready. His hands-on support was a hit among attendees, many of whom took advantage of the complimentary service.

The gathering provided a relaxed atmosphere for cyclists to meet one another, share routes, and talk about the future of cycling in Richmond Hill. Organizers say this is just the beginning of a broader movement to promote safer, more connected streets in the community.

To wrap up the event, a prize draw was held where participants received cycling gear including helmets, locks, and lights. The items were generously donated by Chris, a Strong Towns Richmond Hill member and the club’s lead organizer.

The event also received media attention, with a feature article appearing in YorkRegion.com highlighting the club’s goals and community impact. More events are planned for the spring and summer riding season.

After the meeting, a few of the participants joined the monthly Local Conversation Group meeting for April which was held inside the library.
