Candidates Put Their Positions on the Record with STRH Transparency Badge

As the 2026 municipal election approaches, Strong Richmond Hill (STRH) is encouraging candidates to give voters something more useful than slogans: clear answers to the questions that will shape Richmond Hill’s future.

STRH has introduced its “Committed to Transparency” badge for candidates who complete the organization’s 2026 candidate questionnaire. The questionnaire asks candidates about housing and growth, parking, transportation, public safety, street design, infrastructure, development charges, the environment and municipal transparency.

The badge recognizes participation. It does not mean that STRH endorses, approves of or rates a candidate. It is not a certification that every answer is correct, nor does it suggest that one candidate is better than another. It simply tells voters that the candidate has taken the time to answer the same public questions and make their positions available for review.

Candidates who have completed the questionnaire so far include Sigmund Lee, Sharon Chisholm, Juni Yeung, Karen Cilevitz, Marty Paulin, Hasti Anasory, Ray Behroozian, Domenic Bardari, Carol Davidson and Marco Coletta.

Their responses are being reviewed and published on their candidate profiles, allowing voters to examine both their policy positions and the priorities they assign to different issues. As more candidates respond, STRH’s comparison pages will provide a clearer picture of where candidates agree, where they differ and which issues remain unanswered.

That information can help voters make a more informed decision—not by telling them who to support, but by giving them a better basis for deciding which candidate’s ideas, priorities and approach best match their own.
