Richmond Hill’s Famous Wave Pool Offers a Free Swim Day

Last Updated: February 16, 2025Categories: Recreation

Richmond Hill’s iconic Wave Pool has officially reopened to the public after nearly five years of closure. The beloved aquatic facility, located at 5 Hopkins Street, welcomed visitors back on January 6, 2024, following extensive repairs and upgrades.

To celebrate the reopening, the city is offering free swim sessions on February 15, 2024, from 1:45 PM to 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM to 6:15 PM.

The Wave Pool is York Region’s only indoor wave pool and features a beach-entry wave pool, a 100-foot waterslide with rainbow effects, an on-deck sauna, and a warm water swirl pool. Other amenities include a pool viewing gallery, male, female, and universal change rooms, and a party room.

First opened in 1986, the Wave Pool has been a popular community hub for decades. Its closure in 2020 was necessary to allow for critical infrastructure repairs and safety improvements. Now, after nearly five years, residents and visitors can once again enjoy its unique aquatic features.

Regular admission fees will apply after the free swim sessions on February 15. For more details on schedules, programs, and rates, visit the City of Richmond Hill website.

Don’t miss this chance to make a splash at the newly reopened Wave Pool!
