Strong Towns at the Maple Syrup Festival
Mayor David West’s Maple Syrup Festival was held on Saturday, April 12th, from 10 am to 3 pm at the Richmond Green Sports Centre. Strong Towns Richmond Hill, a community organisation, was one of the exhibitors at the festival. The public and city officials very well visited our table. We also had interesting conversations with Mayor West and Councillor Scott Thompson. There were hands-on activities for children that acted as a conversation starter with their parents. The main topic was housing affordability in Richmond Hill. We asked Richmond Hill residents about their views on housing shortage and affordability, and if they might have ideas to solve the problems.
The event was also a record breaker in the number of members recruited in a single day. More photos of the event and Strong Town Richmond Hill’s table at the event can be found here.
