While the police have an important role in keeping our community safe, residents also have a responsibility to take practical steps to protect their homes and families. We should educate residents about the importance of proper outdoor lighting at night, installing security cameras, securing doors and windows, and upgrading other home safety measures. A safer community requires both effective policing and informed, proactive residents.
